President Trump is having a very public breakup with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a longtime ally and MAGA supporter, as she separates herself from the administration on the Epstein case, economic issues and foreign policy.
Mr. Trump slammed her as a RINO, or Republican in name only, and compared her to two Kentucky Republicans, Sen. Rand Paul and Rep. Thomas Massie, who often vote against him.
“Lightweight Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Brown (Green grass turns Brown when it begins to ROT!), betrayed the entire Republican Party when she turned Left, performed poorly on the pathetic View, and became the RINO that we all know she always was,” he wrote Saturday on social media. “Just another Fake politician, no different than Rand Paul Jr. (Thomas Massie), who got caught being a full-fledged Republican In Name Only (RINO)! MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”
In another Saturday post, the president called her “Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Green” and said she is a “disgrace to our GREAT REPUBLICAN PARTY!”
The comments come a day after he pulled his endorsement of the Georgia Republican and said he would support anyone who primaried her.
He wrote that all he sees “‘Wacky’ Marjorie do is COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN!”
He wrote Friday, “She has told many people that she is upset that I don’t return her phone calls anymore, but with 219 Congressmen/women, 53 U.S. Senators, 24 Cabinet Members, almost 200 Countries, and an otherwise normal life to lead, I can’t take a ranting Lunatic’s call every day.”
He added, “I understand that wonderful, Conservative people are thinking about primarying Marjorie in her District of Georgia, that they too are fed up with her and her antics and, if the right person runs, they will have my Complete and Unyielding Support. She has gone Far Left, even doing The View, with their Low IQ Republican hating Anchors. Thank you for your attention to this matter. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
In a lengthy X post Saturday, Ms. Greene defended her support of the discharge petition that would require the Justice Department to release all the files related to deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
“I never thought that fighting to release the Epstein files, defending women who were victims of rape, and fighting to expose the web of rich powerful elites would have caused this, but here we are,” she wrote. “And it truly speaks for itself. There needs to be a new way forward.”
She was one of four Republicans to sign it, including Mr. Massie and Reps. Lauren Boebert of Colorado and Nancy Mace of South Carolina.
Ms. Greene’s separation from the president heated up in the summer when she blasted him for obsessing over the Middle East as opposed to sharing her “America Only” focus.
Her split from Mr. Trump might come with a cost.
“I am now being contacted by private security firms with warnings for my safety as a hot bed of threats against me are being fueled and egged on by the most powerful man in the world,” Ms. Greene wrote in another post. “The man I supported and helped get elected.”
She continued, “Aggressive rhetoric attacking me has historically led to death threats and multiple convictions of men who were radicalized by the same type rhetoric being directed at me right now. This time, by the President of the United States. As a woman I take threats from men seriously.”
