The lottery to apply for free tickets to the 2026 White House Easter Egg Roll being held on April 6 opened at noon Thursday.
Each household is allowed one application in the lottery for up to six tickets overall.
Tickets can be applied for children ages 13 and below, as well as up to two adults per household, per the government reservations platform Recreation.gov.
When applying, lottery entrants must specify the times they prefer to attend, according to the White House website.
The ticket lottery will be open through noon March 4. The results will be announced at noon March 10, and lottery winners will receive notification of their tickets via email, according to Recreation.gov.
The annual Easter-time event dates back to the Rutherford B. Hayes administration. In 1878, children walked up to the gates of the White House grounds and asked if they could play egg-rolling games, and the president obliged. From there, it became a tradition held each Easter Monday, according to the White House website.
Last year, more 40,000 people were there to see children, including some of President Donald Trump’s grandchildren via his son Donald Trump Jr., roll painted eggs across the lawn with wooden spoons, according to The Associated Press.
