Democrats don’t hate all Christians, of course. Christians are great if they are genderqueer or love illegal immigrants, but if they conform to rather normal Christian theology and believe that such a thing as sin exists, or that good and evil are real things, they are quite scary.
Postmodern, anti-Western Christianity=good. Cisgender, heterosexual, and especially white Christians=bad.

You would think that their objections would be ideological, but that isn’t primarily the case. The hatred of Christianity you see in many liberals is actually a hatred of the West itself. The West was called “Christendom” for centuries, and for a reason. As much as we like to say “Judeo-Christian” values define the West, it might be more proper to say Judeo-Christian-Greco-Roman values are a more comprehensive description. Jerusalem, Athens, and Rome are the spiritual homes of our particular mix of reason and faith, forming the foundation of the modern West.
Modern leftism is defined by its rejection of both faith and reason, although some leftists like to wear either Christianity or “scientism” as skin suits. You have woke preachers and the “trust the science” types, but really, all they are is devotees of the woke agenda, which at base is hatred of the West.
I bring that up because it provides a partial explanation for the modern Left’s seemingly bizarre embrace of Islam, which, if viewed in ideological terms, seems to make no sense. But once you see the primary motivation as hatred for the West and Western values, it snaps into place. Who hates the West as much as Islamists? They hate us so much that they will blow themselves up just to get a few of us.

I’ve been fascinated to watch traditional liberals struggle with the fact that the political base of liberal politicians is communists who want to tear everything down. Like Tony Blair, who was a Bill Clintonesque charismatic face of technocracy, a few of the more common sense-driven old-style liberals are genuinely worried or perplexed by the left’s embrace of obviously evil and illiberal people.
As I have said before, I agree with Winston Churchill about Muslims and Islam:
Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome .”
Despite the obviousness of this observation, modern leftists have embraced Islamism with a passion only matched by their love of socialism, and I believe for much the same reason. Call it “decolonialization,” the “queering” of society, or, as many do, “revolution,” it amounts to the same thing: destroy what is and replace it.
Obviously, leftists don’t want to live in an Islamist society, but then again, Hitler didn’t admire the Muslims when he allied with them against the Jews. They share the same intermediate goal, so they ally, just as we shared the goal of destroying Hitler with Stalin, so we worked together until the war ended, and hostilities between the West and the Communists resumed.

The difference, of course, is that the Soviet Union at the time could never harm the United States, so it seemed safe. Islamists, especially when imported into our societies, are already not harmless.

Leftists and even many Democrats see their future tied to Islam, and not just in a worldwide struggle against capitalism. Democrats pussyfoot around Muslims even when they commit terrorist acts, and march side by side with terrorists.
