Taylor Swift fans demand apology after Travis Kelce chats with Kai Trump

Travis Kelce was spotted chatting with Kai Trump, the 18-year-old granddaughter of President Trump, during a TGL golf league match in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, on Tuesday, and the brief exchange quickly set off a debate on social media.

A video of the encounter circulating on X and shared by sports enthusiast Tyler Boronski showed the Kansas City Chiefs tight end talking animatedly with Ms. Trump on the turf at the SoFi Center. The event featured a matchup between Jupiter Links Golf Club, co-owned by Tiger Woods, and The Bay Golf Club. Mr. Kelce’s brother, Jason, was also at the event, interviewing Travis for ESPN about his golf swing.

Ms. Trump, born in 2007, is the daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and his ex-wife, Vanessa Trump. She has competed in junior golf tournaments and played in an LPGA event in November 2025. Her mother has previously been linked romantically to Tiger Woods, which may account for her attendance at Tuesday’s match.

The video drew immediate reaction online, largely tied to Mr. Trump’s public criticism of Taylor Swift, Mr. Kelce’s fiance. The couple announced their engagement Aug. 26, 2025. Ms. Swift endorsed Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election, drawing Mr. Trump’s ire. He has since made several pointed remarks about Ms. Swift on social media and in public appearances.

Some Swift fans on X called for Mr. Kelce to apologize for the interaction, while others defended it as ordinary small talk at a public sporting event. Trump supporters, meanwhile, reacted positively to the clip.

Mr. Kelce has not publicly addressed the viral clip.
