Rep. Eric Swalwell, a former Democratic presidential candidate who helped lead the second impeachment of President Donald Trump, has officially entered the fray to succeed California Gov. Gavin Newsom in next year’s gubernatorial race.
His core message? “Prices are too high and people are scared.”
Swalwell, 45, a prominent Trump antagonist on social media and a cable news darling who ran a short-lived bid for the White House in 2019, made the announcement Thursday night at the tail end of a nearly 10-minute interview with late-night host Jimmy Kimmel.
After joking that California was “the greatest country in the world,” to laughs from the Los Angeles studio audience, Swalwell grew serious and decried how Californians have been disproportionately targeted by a second Trump administration, whether through vengeful immigration raids or the cancellation of critical cancer and health research.
“This great state needs a fighter and a protector,” Swalwell said.

Swalwell filed a federal lawsuit against Bill Pulte over at the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) to try to wiggle out from under his awkward mortgage issues. Is he a California or Maryland man?

Rep. Eric Swalwell on Tuesday filed a civil lawsuit against Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte, alleging violations of the Privacy Act and First Amendment over Pulte’s criminal referral of him to the Justice Department for alleged mortgage fraud violations.
In the suit, filed in federal court in Washington, DC, the California Democrat and outspoken critic of President Donald Trump alleged that Pulte abused his position as federal housing chief “by scouring databases at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac” for private mortgage records of prominent Democrats, including Swalwell.
Pulte’s actions represented “a gross abuse of power that violated the law,” Swalwell alleged, by targeting him for prosecution “based solely on his protected political speech and views.”
Swalwell alleged that the referral violated the Privacy Act because the law “explicitly forbids federal agencies from disclosing—or even transmitting to other agencies—sensitive information about any individual for any purpose not explicitly authorized by law.” He asked the court to direct Pulte to withdraw the criminal referral he submitted to DOJ and for damages over alleged violations of the Privacy Act.
It’s just so darn inconvenient that if he really is a Maryland Man, he can’t be a Sacramento King.
Filmmaker, Joel Gilbert, has filed an election voter complaint with the CA Secretary of State against Eric Swalwell.
Swalwell recently declared his candidacy for governor of CA.

Meet Eric
It’s not something Democrats typically say about themselves, but Congressman Eric Swalwell was raised by Republicans.
His father was a cop, and his mother ran a small business. They brought him into the world in Sac City, Iowa, then raised him in Dublin, California, the oldest of four boys. His childhood was about family, sports, and hard work – from running a paper route at the age of 10, to sanding and installing window frames as a teenager. A Division One soccer scholarship allowed him to become the first in his family to go to college.
Swalwell is also busy making sure everyone knows he’s the conscientious objector and seditious member liaison with the American military. It’s not enough that six idiots had to make a wink-wink-nudge-nudge textbook CIA propaganda video tacitly encouraging action while feigning innocence and earnestly reminding service members of a duty that they are reminded of in yearly briefings. Swalwell wants America to know HE is also close to the beating heart of the Trump resistance effort.
Service members know they can confide in Eric.

California gubernatorial candidate and Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell claimed that members of the military are telling him they can be a “check” on President Donald Trump.
On Don Lemon’s show Monday, Swalwell discussed the controversy over a video of six Democratic lawmakers urging service members to “refuse illegal orders” from Trump.
…Swalwell argued that the Trump administration “told on” itself by going after Kelly for his call to resist “illegal orders” and revealed that some service members have been behaving as a “check” on the president.
“What gives me hope, and I talk to service members all the time. They tell me that I don’t appreciate enough and the public doesn’t appreciate enough that while Congress is not a check on the president anymore, and the judiciary at the Supreme Court is hardly a check, military members have told me, ‘We can be a check,'” Swalwell said.
“They’re essentially saying, ‘We’re not going to betray our oath to the Constitution because this guy tells us to.’ While it’s not codified that way — they’re not a branch of government on their own— their honor and integrity might just save us.”
Swalwell agreed with Lemon that the Trump administration and, by extension, Republicans are now telling service members to “ignore the Constitution.”
I’ll bet they tell him that all the time. And then his cat wakes him up.
Swalwell is going to have problems with some of the girls back home, though. They’re not all easy-going like Don Lemon.
Tish Hyman, the dynamite lady who blew a gasket over the man in her gym locker room, nailed Swalwell’s greasy hide to the floor at a recent town hall over his support for transgenders, with men in girls’ sports and locker rooms.
The guy who is all about ‘protecting Californians’ had no answer for the woman who challenged him on exactly who he was going to protect.
