Sen. Rand Paul wants DOJ to charge Dr. Anthony Fauci with lying to Congress

Chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee Rand Paul called on the Department of Justice to charge Dr. Anthony Fauci, a former senior national health adviser, with lying to Congress.

“I do believe Anthony Fauci committed a felony by lying to Congress,” Mr. Paul, Kentucky Republican, told pro-Trump activist Charlie Kirk in an interview when asked if he thought former President Biden’s autopen pardon signatures would be considered valid in court.

“You have to charge [Dr. Fauci] with a felony, take him to court and then the court will decide whether or not the pardon is upheld,” he said.

“You can argue until you’re blue in the face that you can’t do autopens and that maybe the president wasn’t aware of it. But the only way to actually do this is to charge someone who has been pardoned.”

The senator added, “I think Anthony Fauci is the most likely to be chargeable. There are other people — Hunter Biden could be charged as well — but someone has to be charged.”

Mr. Paul noted that Dr. Fauci testified to lawmakers “in a very vigorous and heated and animated way” and that his testimony is contradicted by the people who were involved in the funding of EcoHealth Alliance.

“That then secondarily funded the research in Wuhan. When EcoHealth’s funding was stopped for a while, they then sent a letter back to the NIH when it started up again, and they said, ‘Thank you for restarting our gain of function research funds,’” Mr. Paul said, adding that National Institutes of Health interim Director Lawrence Tabak admitted their research genetically altered organisms to enhance their biological functions.

Mr. Paul said he thinks Mr. Fauci lied about NIH’s financial involvement in EcoHealth Alliance, because the scientist ultimately would have been held “responsible for the bad judgment to fund this risky research in Wuhan that I believe ultimately became the pandemic.”

Dr. Fauci currently serves as a professor at Georgetown University’s School of Medicine.

The Washington Times reached out for comment from Dr. Fauci and Georgetown University.
