President Donald Trump is cleaning up the nation’s capital, cracking down on violent crime and removing homeless people from the city.
“The Homeless have to move out, IMMEDIATELY. We will give you places to stay, but FAR from the Capital,” Trump said in a Truth Social post Sunday morning. “The Criminals, you don’t have to move out. We’re going to put you in jail where you belong.”
Trump warned that this clean-up is “all going to happen very fast, just like the Border.” His move to crack down on crime in Washington, D.C., officially activated as of 12 a.m. on Friday.
The White House put over a dozen federal law enforcement agencies on the streets of D.C., including the Drug Enforcement Administration, the FBI, and U.S. Park Police.
According to the White House, the operation is set to last for one week, but it could be extended. The agencies allegedly will be focusing their attention on places like Union Station.
“At President Trump’s direction, the increase of federal law enforcement presence in D.C. last night was a great success,” said White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt in a statement. “This is the first step in stopping the violent crime that has been plaguing the streets of Washington, D.C. The residents and visitors of our Nation’s capital can be confident that President Trump is delivering on his promise to Make D.C. Safe Again.”
The major push to drive down D.C. crime follows the assault on former Department of Government Efficiency staffer, Edward Coristine—also known as “Big Balls”—during an attempted carjacking last week in Logan Circle, a neighborhood in D.C.
“Local ‘youths’ and gang members, some only 14, 15, and 16-years-old, are randomly attacking, mugging, maiming, and shooting innocent Citizens, at the same time knowing that they will be almost immediately released,” Trump said in a Truth Social post on Tuesday.
In the same post, Trump warned D.C. city officials that “we will have no choice but to take Federal control of the City, and run this City how it should be run,” if they can’t get their act together.

Last year, D.C. ranked fourth highest for homicide rates among U.S. cities according to the Center for Public Safety Initiatives at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
Trump told reporters earlier this week that he might try repealing D.C. Democrats’ beloved “home rule,” a movement aimed toward ending all federal control of D.C. Trump also said he might bring in “the National Guard, maybe very quickly.”
A press conference will be held at the White House Monday which will disclose even more plans to crack down on violent crime in D.C., according to Trump’s announcement via Truth Social.
“There will be no ‘MR. NICE GUY,’” Trump said. “We want our Capital BACK.”
