What happened to Rob Reiner was horrific, and while it would be wrong to say I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy—I think it would have been awesome for Mao, Pol Pot, Stalin, or Hitler to die at the hands of a family member or loved one—I certainly don’t think that any ordinary person, however imperfect, should suffer such a fate.
Then there is the fact that Reiner was, for many Americans of all political persuasions, a figure of special love for reasons other than his politics. He was an extraordinary director with a real flair for capturing a wide range of human types and experiences. Stand By Me, The Princess Bride, A Few Good Men, and When Harry Met Sally are touchstones for tens of millions of people, including myself. Whatever you think of his politics, his artistry deserves respect.
An unbelievable moment on the House floor.
Rep. Lauren Boebert requests a moment of prayer for Charlie Kirk.

Then, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna shouts back “y’all caused this!” pic.twitter.com/puEobizZTk

It’s not like he was a pedophile rapist, like Roman Polanski. His great sin was being a blowhard.
So I, along with millions of others, thought Trump’s tweet and comments about Reiner were crass and small.

But I also believe that most people who are complaining the loudest are ridiculous hypocrites who have absolutely no right to say so, because they celebrated Charlie Kirk’s death, or excused those who did in the most vile ways. Many of them still do.

So to them I have two words: screw you. After being subjected to vile slanders for over a decade, conservatives really don’t care what you think. You have called us Nazis, bigots, the Gestapo, fascists, wished us dead, told pollsters we should be put in camps and have our children taken away, and lamented that Thomas Crooks wasn’t a better shot.
Tim Walz, after a ridiculous weekend when liberals spread the rumor that Trump was dead, joked that he hoped that we would get better news, but Trump resurfaced.
Did you spend the day thinking about Governor Tim Walz joking about Trump dying?
Because I see posts on this platform wishing for his death everyday. pic.twitter.com/1ktJsFuYhv

I have written many times about the vicious and disgusting attacks on Charlie Kirk after he was assassinated, and not just by randos on X. Doctors, lawyers, teachers, judges, and even some politicians either celebrated his assassination outright, said he deserved it or was responsible for being killed, or justified those who did so.
BREAKING: Democratic Party volunteers were reportedly handing out “IS HE DEAD YET?” bracelets to people attending the Oshkosh Farmers Market in Wisconsin.

Millions of liberals, including some prominent politicians, defended Luigi Mangione or called him a hero, or at the very least did the “I don’t approve of violence, but…” dance.
When Rush Limbaugh died, the left erupted in celebration. I could go on and on.
This just happened yesterday, I believe.

Rob Reiner was himself exceptionally gracious, and I believe sincerely so, when Charlie Kirk was murdered, for which he deserves great credit. His was a rare voice from the left.
Every single lib pretending to care about Trump’s Rob Reiner comments will celebrate when Big Orange dies.
Worth remembering. I disapprove of smoking on opps myself, in general, but I simply refuse to be lectured about ethics by some of the “morally” worst people in the world.

This doesn’t excuse Trump’s outburst, but Rob Reiner was, you must admit, not merely a Trump critic but one of the prime celebrity promoters of hoaxes intended to bring Trump down. While silence would have been Trump’s best response, asking him to say insincere words of praise would be a step too far. One suspects that Reiner would have made an exception from his usual graciousness upon Trump’s own demise.

Whether that is true or not, it is galling to be lectured to about graciousness from the same people who have been utterly vile to conservatives when they pass away. It is beyond hypocritical. It is yet another example of appropriating the mantle of virtue in the service of evil.
Yup, I am not so sure why this was hard for everyone to follow, save the need to drive the outrage cycle. Trump shouldn’t have sent the tweet and the tweet itself was in poor taste, but in the grand scheme of things, I didn’t really care much either. Somehow, however, that made…

I sometimes wonder how many of the lefties who scream bloody murder at every Orange Man Bad moment really believe what they are saying, or whether they are just so blinded by their hatred that they don’t notice how badly they behave in response to their emotional reaction to Trump.
These kinds of lies got Charlie Kirk killed.
They know it.
They don’t plan on stopping. https://t.co/qE9OEVAWMo

Millions of Democrats who are now outraged about Trump’s mean tweet either voted for Jay Jones or would have if they lived in Virginia. To have them lecture us about Trump’s not being a nice guy is rich.
Every House Republican voted to condemn the murders of Democrat state lawmakers in MN. Yet more than half (118) of House Democrats refused to join us in voting to condemn the murder of Charlie (58 voted No, and the rest abstained). It speaks volumes. pic.twitter.com/9NKFJ6qyiF

Conservatives have a right to chastise Trump for saying aloud something that strikes us as off-key, but unless a liberal loudly denounced the hatefest after hatefest aimed at conservatives, they should sit down, shut up, and look in the mirror. You are not more virtuous than Trump.
