‘Hate Speech’ Excludes Antisemitism – HotAir

While the war on speech in the United Kingdom is horrifying in almost every way, it does serve as an excellent example to study exactly what speech is celebrated by the Establishment and what is despised and punished.

There are countless examples of Christians being harassed or even being arrested for the most anodyne expressions, including for silently praying. They are making people feel “uncomfortable,” you see, while Islamists can call for genocide against entire peoples and the destruction of Western Civilization, and we are told that this is an expression of diversity, and diversity is our strength.

You can get arrested for waving an English or UK flag, but carrying the flag of Hamas or ISIS is A-OK. England, you see, is a colonizer country, and even the English should be silenced for celebrating their own country, while Hamas is a liberation movement, and we must respect it.

But few things are more clarifying than this, because it is an affirmative act by a local government to explicitly say that Jews don’t count.

A graphic had been created, presumably for the use of denouncing hate speech and thoughts, that listed some of the prohibited types of “hate.” It had originally included antisemitism as one form of hate speech. The local council cropped the word “antisemitism” out, because apparently that is an “approved” form of prejudice.

A London council left anti-Semitism off a list of hate crimes while including many other forms of prejudice, including transphobia and Islamophobia.

Tower Hamlets “cropped” the reference to anti-Jewish discrimination from a website page promoting support for National Hate Crime Awareness Week.

For four years, the poster on the web page has not made any reference to anti-Semitism, while at the same time listing disablism, homophobia, Islamophobia, racism and transphobia.

The word anti-Semitism has appeared on the council’s printed leaflet and other material promoting the annual awareness event, including a video. But since 2021 it has not been included on a prominent council website image publicising the week.

On Thursday, after a councillor raised the issue and The Telegraph contacted Tower Hamlets, the image online was altered or replaced so the word anti-Semitism was finally visible.

The council states on a website page: “Hate crime affects all communities, and we all have a role to play in recognising it and responding swiftly.”

They literally cropped it out. They didn’t accidentally LEAVE it out, but chose to remove the denunciation of the systematic hatred of the Jews.

The controversy over the omission follows the deaths of two Jewish men in the Manchester synagogue attack last week. Tower Hamlets admitted the online image had the word anti-Semitism cropped out but denied it was intentional.

Last year Tower Hamlets bowed to pressure and ordered the removal of Palestinian flags from council buildings and lamp-posts after receiving legal complaints that they fostered division and hostility.

Lutfur Rahman, the mayor of Tower Hamlets, had insisted the flags were “symbols of solidarity and sympathy” for Palestinians in Gaza.

Observers pointed out there was an added irony to the word anti-Semitism being left off the website poster given that the borough was once home to one of Britain’s oldest Jewish communities.

Think about that. There are not pogroms against Muslims, while Jews are being attacked and killed for their existence. Yet the Council is deeply concerned that Muslims are suffering “hate,” and not at all that Muslims are murdering Jews.

In the UK, the government itself is attacking its own citizens for expressing pride in being British, while simultaneously trying to wipe away the very fact that the white population of the country–the native population–exists as a cultural group. At the same time, they are deeply concerned about promoting “diversity,” they also want to wipe out “Britishness.”

The phrase “non-white” is offensive and should be avoided, civil servants have been told.

The Northern Ireland Civil Service (NICS) has released an inclusive language guide which advises public sector workers to use “from a minority ethnic background” as an alternative to avoid reinforcing “negative stereotypes”.

The term “non-white” is the latest to be condemned for creating misconceptions “that all minority ethnic communities are the same”.

The acronym BAME (Black, Asian and minority ethnic) was previously widely accepted for use. However, the guide suggests it should now be avoided as it masks “disparities between different minority ethnic groups”.

It is one of dozens of suggestions issued by the taxpayer funded body designed to “avoid incorrect assumptions or stereotypes, helping to foster a culture of respect, and belonging in [the] workplace”.

The term “illegal immigrants” is one term discouraged in the guide. However in its justification it suggests this is because you should “not use ‘migrant’ to refer to all minority ethnic people, as some will have been born here”.

Critics of the guide called it “magical thinking” and a “waste of time and resources”.

The government is twisting itself into pretzels, simultaneously arguing that there is no difference at all between native Britons and immigrants, including illegal immigrants, while also working feverishly to ensure that immigrants do not integrate into the larger society and preserve their “differences.”

Which is it?

Whatever serves their purpose, of course. It is one thing at one moment, another at a different moment. The idea is to suppress the entire idea of Britishness.

This reminds me of the time that former Scottish Prime Minister Humza Yousaf complained bitterly that white people are the majority in Scotland.

We are scolded for even thinking that the idea is to wipe away the existing culture and replace it, but isn’t it obvious that this is exactly the point? This is why some ideas are being scrubbed–particularly the dominance of Judeo-Christian values–and others are being elevated. Hating Jews is normal; praying to God is not, unless it is Allah.

Each arrest of a Christian for being Christian is an example of this reality, but there is something clarifying about this wiping away of the concept of antisemitism. One at least wonders a tiny bit about whether there was some unseen act of hatred in what the Christians said or did to merit arrest, but there is zero ambiguity when a Council decides that antisemitism is not hatred.

No doubt I will be accused of racism for pointing out the obvious, because pointing out inconvenient truths is by definition hate speech.

Despite pleading guilty to assault and being in possession of a ‘bladed article’, Kadri was handed a suspended sentence of just 20 weeks. No jail time. The judge said he had “lost his temper”.

Hamit, meanwhile, is living in hiding, having been warned by the police that there are several credible threats to his life.

This sentence will do nothing to dispel the suspicion that Britain has a two-tier criminal justice system. Had a knife-wielding white male pleaded guilty to attacking a Muslim for breaching a Christian blasphemy code, you can bet your bottom dollar he would have gone to prison.

But the evidence is indisputable. Calling for the slitting of Jews’ throats is not considered hate, nor could it possibly cause “distress,” while questioning Islam should be banned.

Lucy Connolly was sentenced to jail for 31 months and served the majority of that sentence. She was denied bail because she was too dangerous to be released from custody. But the man who murdered two Jews in an attack was out on bail after raping two women.

It’s insane.
