It’s a special type of anti-American dirtbag who goes to China’s Tiananmen Square to praise the communist country. And that’s just the kind of guy that leftist Twitch streamer Hasan Piker is.
Tiananmen Square is famously the scene of a brutal crackdown by the CCP on pro-democracy protesters in 1989 which resulted in hundreds (but probably thousands) of deaths. Piker recently went there for a sunrise ceremony which required lining up early in the morning and going through security.
Once inside, his friend was holding up a phone with an image of Hasan’s face on an image of Chairman Mao and joking about becoming Chinese.
As the group waited, Piker joked with fellow Twitch streamer Will Neff that they were “all in Tiananmen Square, so we’re all becoming Chinese.” “When the time is right you will look in the mirror and already be Chinese,” Neff responded.
Neff then held his phone up to the camera to show what appeared to be an AI-created image showing Mao in the likeness of Piker, accompanied by the Maoist slogan “Closely follow the great leader Chairman Mao forward in the revolution!”
Within seconds, a police officer approached and instructed them to put away the phone, which they did, though the audio kept recording.
“He wants to see the photo,” the translator said after a brief exchange. Neff replied that he hadn’t taken any photos. The translator relayed, “He said he saw you.” “Oh, I was just holding the camera, but I didn’t do anything yet,” Neff answered.
The officer then asked to review the most recent footage from the livestream. The broadcast abruptly cut to black…

Someone pointed out that Hasan was much more ill at ease at Mamdani’s victory party in NYC than he was in Tiananmen Square.

After his encounter with the police, Hasan went back to where he was staying and justified the police reaction on the grounds that someone white might try to say something negative about Mao. “He thought we were like making a mockery, you know what I mean? He didn’t realize that we were swagged out white boys who love China.” As you’ll see in this clip, he defends the Chinese police and concludes that police in the US are the worst police in the world.

Hasan isn’t kidding. He really is a white boy who loves China and who has repeatedly defended the CCP.
