NBC News: President Donald Trump has directed the federal agency that oversees legal immigration to the U.S. to conduct a sweeping review of green card holders from what the administration calls countries of concern, the head of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services said Thursday.
“At the direction of @POTUS, I have directed a full scale, rigorous reexamination of every Green Card for every alien from every country of concern,” USCIS Director Joseph Edlow said Thursday afternoon in a statement on X.
Edlow said that protecting the country “remains paramount” and that “the American people will not bear the cost of the prior administration’s reckless resettlement policies.”
Ed: Again, this is long overdue, but it will not go easy. We can expect all sorts of legal challenges in the weeks ahead as USCIS promulgates and implements these policies.

Ed: I would assign more blame to Elissa Slotkin, who publicly warned earlier this week that National Guard professionals would soon start shooting people on the streets. But while every single member of the “Seditious Six’ own some moral responsibility for escalating these tensions, only Mark Kelly explicitly set this standard.

WSOC-TV: Videos show the case in question where federal agents said Miguel Martinez, a U.S. citizen, was arrested for taking pictures of Border Patrol agents at several locations.
Documents say when Border Patrol agents tried to stop Martinez and warn him he was impeding their work, he took off in a white van, leading agents on a chase in and out of Charlotte traffic.
They charged Martinez with felony impeding or interfering with federal officers. That federal charge was then enhanced when the government claimed he used his car as a ‘deadly or dangerous weapon’.
According to court documents, that is the charge a federal judge dismissed.
Ed: This story is making the rounds the past day or so. Martinez still faces a lesser felony charge in federal court, but the judge released him from jail after dropping the more serious charge. The video of part of the chase does not explicitly show Martinez using the van to attack ICE agents, but he wasn’t exactly avoiding it either. Until we start imposing significant deterrents on these radical activists, these attacks will continue – including the attack in DC that cost at least one life.

Elliot Ackerman at the Free Press: Members of the Trump administration have questioned the Biden administration’s vetting of Afghan nationals brought to the U.S. during our chaotic withdrawal. In a statement, CIA director John Ratcliffe said, “This individual—and so many others—should have never been allowed to come here. Our citizens and service members deserve far better than to endure the ongoing fallout from the Biden administration’s catastrophic failures.” The war in Afghanistan was certainly a catastrophic failure, but not one solely owned by the Biden administration. It’s owned equally by each American administration since 9/11.
More to the point: the suggestion that Lakanwal was not vetted simply doesn’t hold up.
To join the elite Zero Units, Afghan volunteers were subjected to extensive vetting, including background checks and polygraphs. Lakanwal first entered the Zero Units in 2012 and served under both the Obama and Trump administrations. He was granted humanitarian parole into the U.S. in 2021 and was then, again, granted asylum when his case came under review in 2025 under the Trump administration.

Free Beacon: Swiss billionaire Hansjörg Wyss’s eponymous charity funneled tens of millions of dollars last year to left-wing nonprofits working to shut down American oil and gas production and turn out climate-concerned voters, according to the group’s tax filings first obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.
In total, the Wyss Foundation wired grants worth more than $40 million to two dozen organizations that buy large swaths of American land to prevent resource development, advocate for “climate justice,” and increase voter turnout among those who see global warming as the most consequential issue facing the country.
It represents a large slice of the Wyss Foundation’s total giving, which reached a staggering $222.6 million in 2024, the most it has ever reported and $70 million more than it gave in 2023, according to a review of its tax forms dating back two decades. In addition to climate and environmental initiatives, last year, the charity funded far-left social causes, Swiss scientific projects, and academic programs at universities like Harvard and Yale.
