Tyler Robinson, allegedly the man who assassinated Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University (UVU) this week, came from a Republican family. But a high school friend insists that Tyler himself was increasingly far left in his politics.
The youth who claimed to be Tyler‘s high school friend asked to remain anonymous when he agreed to a phone interview with The Guardian on Friday. The accused murderer, who killed Kirk with one shot to the neck while Kirk was answering a question about transgender mass shooters Wednesday, was “pretty left on everything,” the friend affirmed.
Some lefties now want to claim Tyler Robinson was pro-MAGA because of his family’s views. But the friend clarified Tyler was “the only member of his family that was really leftist.” And the “rest of his family was very hard Republican.” Tyler was identified and exposed by his family and a pastor whom the father contacted.
The friend, who said he and Tyler played video games together, also explained that the arrow engravings on Tyler’s bullet casings came out of the online game Helldivers 2, a reference to “calling in a big bomb” that is “called the 500 kilogram.”

The friend is no longer close with Tyler but they had been close in high school:
The friend said that he has not spoken to Robinson in years and began to drift apart toward the end of high school. Another high school classmate separately told the Guardian that the friend and Robinson were close in school and would play video games.
And despite Tyler’s history of political anger, the friend didn’t expect his high school pal to become an assassin. “I knew he had strong political views, but I never thought it would even go near that far,” the friend stated. After all, who expects a high school buddy to shoot a peaceful speaker in the neck over a political disagreement? It’s an idea that would never cross the mind of a normal person. It requires a special type of mental and moral illness.

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox told the press that a relative recalled Tyler “didn’t like [Kirk] and the viewpoints he had” and ranted belligerently about Kirk’s scheduled UVU appearance at a family dinner. Bullet casings found on the scene of the assassination reportedly bore messages such as “Hey fascist! Catch!” and “If you read this, you are gay LMAO.”
It seems perfectly safe to say now that Tyler Robinson was radicalized by Democrats to hate a man so much for publicly stating ideas with which he disagreed that he thought murder was the right response. And his fellow deranged leftists then laughed, cheered, and chortled over the horrific deed.
I would like to express condolences to Tyler’s family, since they took the very difficult step of exposing him, without which the FBI wouldn’t have identified or arrested him. And of course prayers and love to the Kirk family, totally innocent victims of this horrible tragedy. Charlie Kirk was killed for speaking the truth.
