Michiganders almost got a truly horrifying Halloween. Instead, FBI Director Kash Patel announced on Twitter/X this morning, counter-terror ghosts shut down a terror cell and made multiple arrests of monsters before their plans could unfold.
Not too much is known yet about the details, but it’s not the first time this year that the FBI defused a figurative ticking time bomb in Michigan:

So far, no other media outlet has more details than that. The only published news reports thus far just reiterate what Patel tweeted, even at the Detroit News. Fun fact: They used the term “Michiganians” in their headline, which I’ve never heard before. But also, they assume the suspects are Michigan residents, which may or may not be the case.
Earlier this year, the FBI also broke up a terror plot in Michigan. FBI agents arrested a 19-year-old former Army National Guard soldier in May named Ammar Abdulmajid-Mohamed Said, who had plotted an ISIS-inspired attack on an Army base:
Ammar Abdulmajid-Mohamed Said was charged with two felony counts in the U.S. Eastern District of Michigan. He was taken into custody on the day he planned to carry out the assault on the U.S. Army’s Tank-Automotive & Armaments Command, also known as TACOM.
Said’s plan to attack the Detroit Arsenal facility in Warren was discovered by two undercover officers in April 2025.
The defendant provided armor-piercing ammo to the undercover agents, believing they would assist in carrying out a mass shooting at the facility.
In preparation for the attack, Said flew a drone over TACOM for reconnaissance while training the undercover officers on the firearms and construction of Molotov cocktails.
Said planned to carry out the attack on May 13. Instead, he was arrested after traveling near TACOM and launching a drone to help carry out the attack.
Are these arrests related to the Said case? Possibly, although Said sounded more like a lone wolf Islamist than a conspiracy plotter from descriptions at the time. It seems unlikely that any conspiracy involving Said would have survived after his arrest, let alone operate to gather resources and plot another attack. It’s not impossible, but five months down the road, you’d expect anyone connected to Said to either already be in FBI custody or have gotten outside the reach of American law enforcement.
Right now, the possibilities for terrorism are, unfortunately, unlimited. Michigan has been a hotbed of pro-Hamas activism for the last two years, so much so that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris bent American foreign policy to appease that small but extremely, er, vocal demo. Donald Trump won Michigan anyway. However, other radical elements have become more violent this year, mainly in response to robust enforcement of immigration-law violations. We have seen a political assassination this year with the murder of Charlie Kirk as well. Radical elements in American society have begun an escalation race in an attempt to terrorize voters into compliance with their agendas, which has proven thankfully unsuccessful thus far and may end up backfiring on the Left as a result. The FBI has already put Antifa in their sights, but that is sadly only one of several plausible possibilities.
My advice is, as usual: Don’t assume. The FBI and/or the Department of Justice will make a statement later today to release the details of the plot, at which point we should know more about the target and nature of the attack. We will either update here or have a new post as the story develops, so … stay tuned. And don’t forget this classic piece of advice:
