Billie Eilish shuts down AI-generated photos of Met Gala appearance: ‘I wasn’t even there!’

Billie Eilish is shutting down rumors that she attended last week’s Met Gala, telling fans the viral blue carpet photos of her in a suit are fakes generated by artificial intelligence.

“Seeing people talk about what I wore to this year’s Met Gala being ’trash.’ I wasn’t there!” the “Bad Guy” singer said in an Instagram story posted Wednesday, laughing as she ate an ice cream cone. “That’s AI! I had a show in Europe that night. Let me be!”

The photos circulating online show the pop star at the event in an oversized blue suit adorned with a rose, seemingly embracing the evening’s theme of “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”

But Ms. Eilish confirmed she was more than 3,000 miles away, performing at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam on May 4-5, the same nights as the Gala.

Fellow singer Katy Perry was also subjected to AI-generated Met Gala images, prompting her to post a photo on Instagram of her actual outfit — a black pinstriped jacket and liquid latex skirt — with a message to fans.

“Couldn’t make it to the MET, I’m on The Lifetimes Tour (see you in Houston tomorrow IRL),” Ms. Perry wrote. “P.S. This year I was actually with my mom so she’s safe from the bots, but I’m praying for the rest of y’all.”
