Chuck Schumer gambled, and Chuck Schumer lost big.
That, in a nutshell, is the story arc of the Great Schumer Shutdown, that soon enough will end in tragedy for the Democrats.
Schumer is out of options, not that he had many to begin with. He gambled that the Republicans would fold like they normally do in negotiations, but he misjudged Trump Republicans. Now he’s backed into a corner and can’t get out. He needs to give up. He lost. https://t.co/PMHRY3lLFO

Signs that Schumer was losing control of The Narrative have been evident for quite a while, if you bothered to look. Once the sombrero memes started landing, you could see where everything was going. It was a signal as clear as day that Trump wasn’t going to budge, and if Trump didn’t, the Republicans in the House wouldn’t.
Trump didn’t even treat the shutdown as a speed bump, and certainly not as a crisis. He barely took notice, and when paychecks for the military were put at risk, he cleaned up that mess without breaking a sweat. It was a signal as clear as the sombrero memes that Trump would ensure that all the pain fell on Democrats.
Every Democrat in the Senate should have known that Schumer was leading them off a cliff in his vain fight to avoid a showdown with AOC in the 2028 primaries, but a surprising number of them aren’t very bright.

But they do know where their campaign contributions come from, and the federal workers who are not getting paid are fed up. They know as well as anyone else that Schumer has lost his battle with Trump, and understand that he is sacrificing them in order to save his reelection chances.
Former Democrat Andrew Yang just called out Chuck Schumer for choosing the wrong fight at the worst possible time.
Yang says it’s time to put people over party.
“If I’m the Dems, I’m like, look, we’ve taken a stand, but we’re not going to let families starve.”
He even exposed… pic.twitter.com/UikwoKgCMa

Yang says it’s time to put people over party.
“If I’m the Dems, I’m like, look, we’ve taken a stand, but we’re not going to let families starve.”
He even exposed Schumer’s previous record on this very topic:
“Chuck Schumer in March kept the government open for this very reason. And then he took a blasting from the base of his party that he had to show fight.”
“But this is not the fight because you have millions and millions of Americans who are on the edge right now, and everyone at home knows what I’m talking about. You’re on the edge right now, and a lot of them are getting pushed off the precipice by the shutdown.”
S.E. Cupp: “Veterans, kids. I mean, it’s all kinds of people.”
Yang: “Air traffic controllers, you name it.”
With the government unions abandoning Democrats, the establishment Democrats are following suit. They see the writing on the wall, and Schumer’s power derives mostly from his control over the flow of money and from the prerogatives that come from being Minority Leader and, hopefully, Majority Leader in the Senate. If he looks to be a lame duck, his hold on his colleagues evaporates.
Republicans brought a bill to pay essential federal workers during the shutdown.
👉Senate Democrats blocked it yesterday.
They also introduced the Keep SNAP Funded Act to keep food benefits flowing — the White House even said it would back it. Democrats haven’t allowed a vote… pic.twitter.com/bvkmRSjD3h

Most battles are won by breaking your opponent’s will. Well, the Democrats’ will is basically broken, and what they need to do is find the most graceful way to concede defeat without getting the guillotine that the radical left is threatening them with.
You can tell that the Democrats’ will was broken a few days ago. Suddenly, the only thing they cared about was a ballroom, not the fate of the federal government. Talk about the shutdown became almost an afterthought.
Look! A shiny object!
Schumer is already toast–the radicals are about to take his scalp–and other Democrats are going to have to find a way to save their own when the left comes for them.
Enough will do so, I predict, and relatively soon. It will only take a few more Senators to get to 60, and party loyalty—especially to a leader who is losing a game of chicken—only goes so far.
The dike is collapsing. The flood will come soon enough. The only real question is how many Democrats will get swept away by the rushing waters.
Editor’s Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
