He Threatened to Murder Benny Johnson – HotAir

The threat happened just a few days after the murder of Charlie Kirk last month but it’s coming to light now because the person responsible was just arrested.

Attorney General Pam Bondi on Friday announced the arrest of a man accused of threatening to kill conservative commentator Benny Johnson, in what authorities say was a disturbing copycat plot inspired by the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.

Authorities arrested George Isabel Jr. for threatening to make “orphans” of Johnson’s children, just days after Charlie’s assassination,” Bondi told reporters at a press conference in Florida.

“Benny received a letter at his home where he and [his wife] Kate are raising their beautiful, beautiful young family,” she said outside the US Attorney’s Office in Tampa. “The author of this letter made it very clear that he hated Benny because of his views and he wanted Benny dead.”

Here’s Pam Bondi announcing the arrest. The thrust of her remarks was ‘We will find you.’

The letter itself was clearly partisan in nature.

The criminal complaint against Isbell Jr. included a photo of the letter prosecutors say he sent to Johnson. The letter refers to Johnson as “Charlie Kirk Jr.” and accused he and his “fellow WHITE MAGA podcasters” of being racists and pedophiles. The author of the insult-filled letter said that Johnson should be “exterminated” and that they are “hoping the American flag strangles the life out of you.”

“Maybe someone will blow your head off!!! We can hope” the letter says. “Planning any public engagements?”

Benny Johnson also spoke and his remarks were a call to end the threats and violence. He specifically argued that the left in Virginia seemed to be endorsing violence by voting for Jay Jones after he suggested the murder of a Republican figure (and of some Virginia police) was justifiable.

Johnson told Fox News Digital on Friday afternoon, “The major question here is, how many of us need to die? And, you know, until people take it seriously?”

Speaking alongside Bondi in Florida, Johnson said, “I don’t want political violence. I want peace in my nation.”

“I love this country. I want to be able to debate like Charlie did. I want to be able to raise my family in peace. That is our birthright. But you cannot make peace with evil as a Christian. You cannot unite with people who want you dead. I want unity in this nation,” he added.

Here’s Johnson’s address to the assembled media.

If convicted, George Isabel Jr. faces up to five years in prison.

Editor’s Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
