Rocker Bruce Springsteen says the Democratic Party has a messaging problem that doesn’t appeal to the majority of Americans.
Mr. Springsteen is known for being vocally against President Trump, which has led to Mr. Trump hitting back at him.
In an interview with Time Magazine out Thursday, Mr. Springsteen once again criticized Mr. Trump, saying “a lot of people bought into his lies.”
“He doesn’t care about the forgotten anybody but himself and the multibillionaires who stood behind him on Inauguration Day,” he said, adding that, “You have to face the fact that a good number of Americans are simply comfortable with his politics of power and dominance.”
But, he didn’t spare the Democratic Party from criticism as well.
“We’re desperately in need of an effective alternative party, or for the Democratic Party to find someone who can speak to the majority of the nation,” he said. “There is a problem with the language that they’re using and the way they’re trying to reach people.”
He brushed off the comments the president has made about him — “I absolutely couldn’t care less what he thinks about me.”
“He’s the living personification of what the 25th Amendment and impeachment were for,” he said. “If Congress had any guts, he’d be consigned to the trash heap of history.”
Mr. Trump has called the “Born in the U.S.A” singer, “highly overrated” after Mr. Springsteen blasted the Trump White House during a concert earlier this year as “corrupt, incompetent and treasonous.”
“I see that Highly Overrated Bruce Springsteen goes to a Foreign Country to speak badly about the President of the United States. … He’s not a talented guy — Just a pushy, obnoxious JERK, who fervently supported Crooked Joe Biden, a mentally incompetent FOOL, and our WORST EVER President, who came close to destroying our Country. If I wasn’t elected, it would have been GONE by now!” Mr. Trump wrote on social media at the time.
