The current spasm of left-wing violence is mystifying liberals.
“Motive of shooter who officials say opened fire at Dallas ICE facility remains unclear,” says an ABC News headline from today. It appears that unless a left-wing shooter leaves a manifesto clearly stating his politics, the left will assume it’s a right-winger.
A bullet was found at the scene with “ANTI-ICE” printed on it. No, it’s not a 5,000-word manifesto, but we get the picture.
The American Immigration Lawyers Association called the shootings “a stark reminder that behind every immigration case number is a human being deserving of dignity, safety, and respect.”
The statement continued: “Whether they are individuals navigating the immigration process, public servants carrying out their duties, or professionals working within the system, all deserve to be free from violence and fear.”
I guess the words “ICE” or “law enforcement” got stuck in their throats. For all we know, they were talking about bureaucrats processing immigration forms when mentioning “public servants.”
Talk about “dignity, safety, and respect,” the immigration lawyers obviously don’t believe that ICE agents deserve the same treatment given to illegal aliens.
Former PJ Media CEO Roger Simon refers to this period as the left’s “Jacobin period, our own ‘Reign of Terror.'” As Simon points out, the numbers of dead aren’t comparable, but the spirit of that hysterical time during the French Revolution, as radical leftists used almost any excuse to guillotine anyone they felt was not sufficiently enthusiastic about their revolutionary program, certainly is.
If you think this is all overstated and we are far from the old French Revolution situation, consider the following. Rasmussen took a poll shortly after the assassination using the following statement: “Charlie Kirk was speaking hateful words and his murder was tragic but understandable.”
54% of Liberals agreed with this inhumane statement, as did 40% of Democrats.
On a happier note… I guess… Rasmussen at least reported that 62% agreed that “Charlie Kirk was peacefully and respectfully debating people, and it is a tragedy that he was murdered.”
On the other hand, Rasmussen also reported: “85% Expect More Political Violence After Assassination of Charlie Kirk.”
The left is talking itself into a civil war. And the hysterical rhetoric is only getting worse.
California Governor and 2028 Democratic candidate for the presidential nomination, Gavin Newsom is doing his best to raise the hysteria level to 11.
“I fear we will not have an election in 2028 unless we wake up,” Newsom said. He also repeated his charge that Donald Trump was planning to “rig the midterm elections.”
Yes, that’s sure to calm everyone down.
Talking about the redistricting ploy that he’s spearheading in California, Newsom portrayed his fellow Democrats as meek and mild sheep, unwilling to “fight back” when Trump is rigging the midterm election.
“And I promise you, they know us Democrats — we’re more likely to write an op-ed in the New York Times than do a damn thing about it. And the difference is, we did something about it with this initiative.”
Considering recent history, the left doesn’t seem very meek and mild to me.
Newsom has enlisted the help of Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez in his fight to get his gerrymandered map approved by voters. Proposition 50, if passed, would reduce California’s GOP representation in Congress from nine to just four out of 52, as Newsom’s map would take away as many as five seats currently held by the GOP.
“Trump is redrawing maps to force a Congress that only answers to him — not the people,” Newsom said while posting a viral video of Ocasio-Cortez on X. “@AOC knows California can stop him with Prop 50.”
The fact that AOC is a New Yorker doesn’t seem to bother anyone in California. As long as she can be enlisted for the cause, so be it.
