Protesters Shout at VP Vance and Sec. Hegseth, Stephen Miller Responds – HotAir

Vice President Vance, Sec. of Defense Hegseth and White House Depty Chief of Staff Stephen Miller made a trip to Union Station today to personally thank some of the National Guardsmen who have been deployed in the city. Protesters took the opportunity to shout and boo.

As Vice President JD Vance staged a lunch to thank the National Guard members that President Donald Trump has deployed to Washington, DC, he was frequently drowned out by protesters.

Vance entered Union Station’s Shake Shack to a mix of claps and boos, shaking hands and posing for photos with several people waiting to order lunch. As the boos grew louder, others in the crowd began chanting “USA, USA, USA” in response.

Blocked from the second floor of a Shake Shack in Union Station — where Vance, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller were chatting with more than a dozen guards Wednesday afternoon — protesters loudly chanted “shame,” “this is our city,” and “we want the military out of our streets.”

Video shows things started out pretty calm.

But at some point it turned into people shouting that the Vice President is a Nazi.

The group made it into an upstairs area where VP Vance got an update on what they’d been doing and then thanked them saying, “We’re proud of you and we’re grateful to you.”

Vance apparently bought them lunch while the protesters kept shouting.

Then at some point Stephen Miller spoke for a couple minutes saying, “For too long, 99% of the city has been terrorized by 1% of the city.” He added, “We’re going to prove that a city can serve for the law-abiding residents who live there.” Referring to the protesters more broadly he said, “We are going to ignore these stupid, white hippies that all need to go home and take a nap because they’re all over ninety years old.”

On the way out, VP Vance and Hegseth were pointing and laughing at some of the protesters.

The booing and shouting continued as they left.

The left really is doubling down on opposing law and order. I guess we’ll see if that message works for them in DC and beyond. As I’ve said before, I think their real concern is that this will work and suddenly Democrats in blue cities everywhere will be facing uncomfortable questions about how much crime and disorder gets tolerated.
