Woman charged with driving into people at Maryland baby shower

An Indian Head, Maryland, woman is accused of hitting multiple attendees of a baby shower with her car following an argument.

The Charles County Sheriff’s Office said on social media Thursday that Robin Alexander, 53, attended the baby shower in Waldorf, Maryland, on June 1. She got into an argument with another woman, whom police didn’t name.

The argument carried over into the parking lot outside the baby shower venue. CCSO said Ms. Alexander got into her car and drove toward the woman, striking her as well as another person, also unnamed.

After that, the sheriff’s office said, Ms. Alexander sped up and struck a car with a juvenile inside, then circled back and rammed the car of the woman she had been arguing with.

Some of the other people present at the scene tried to stop Ms. Alexander, law enforcement said, and they ultimately disabled her car by slashing its tires.

The juvenile was uninjured and two people were treated at the scene by emergency medical service personnel. Another person was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Ms. Alexander also received treatment at a hospital for unspecified injuries and was released on June 2 with electronic monitoring. She is charged with eight counts of aggravated assault and two counts of destruction of property.
