A man is accused of breaking into nearly 50 homes in Charles County, Maryland, and beyond to steal circuit breakers.
The suspect, Roger Geovanny Madrid-Banegas, 37, was arrested this week.
The Charles County Sheriff’s Office has been investigating a spate of circuit breaker thefts from unfinished homes in the final stages of construction since Aug. 29.
The stolen circuit breakers, valuable for the metal inside, were worth around $50,000 altogether.
Detectives settled on Mr. Madrid-Banegas as the primary suspect and arrested him with the help of the Montgomery County Police Department and the Prince George’s County Police Department on Thursday.
The sheriff’s office identified Mr. Madrid-Banegas as a Rockville resident, while court records list him as from Germantown.
He’s being held without bond on charges of breaking and entering, theft and destruction of property, the sheriff’s office said.
He faces six felony charges of second-degree burglary and a spate of associated misdemeanor charges, according to court records.
He is due back in court on Feb. 4.
