Trump to give end-of-year address to the nation from White House Wednesday night

President Trump announced he’ll address the nation in a live speech from the White House Wednesday night, his first prime-time remarks in nearly six months.

“I will be giving an address to the nation [Wednesday] night, live from the White House at 9 pm EST. I look forward to ’seeing you’ then. It has been a great year for our country and the best is yet to come,” Mr. Trump posted on Truth Social Tuesday.

Mr. Trump did not say what he planned to talk about in the speech.

The last time Mr. Trump delivered a major prime-time speech was on June 21, when he addressed the nation following U.S. military strikes on three nuclear facilities in Iran.

Prime-time addresses to the nation used to be a longtime staple of the presidency during the television age, but Mr. Trump and his predecessor, President Biden, rarely delivered such dramatic remarks.

Mr. Biden only delivered five prime-time speeches during his presidency, including one in July 2024 asking Americans to lower the political temperature after an assassin tried to kill Mr. Trump, and a January 2025 farewell address to the nation.
